Artist Student teacher
I am embarking on a new adventure (going back to school to someday become an art teacher). This is my second semester, but studying part-time seems to be occupying me full time. I have to find time in my head for a job (ie, to pay the bills).
There is so much available online that its mind boggling, I really don’t know where to begin.
I am starting an internship at an elementary school and looking for inspiration for lesson plans. Needless to say, there is so so much available out there. I wonder if teachers actually write their own original lesson plans or if everything is recycled.
I am looking for ideas and somewhat wanting to go in the direction of the Reggio Emilia Approach.
In reflection I should start with baby steps and use lesson plans that already exists, as they have been tried before, then I can alter them. I am trying to do too much too early and looking for that wow art project for the kids. But I should just be gentle with myself and start slow. Get to know the kids, see what they can do, what works and what doesn’t. Besides, I have the teacher to collaborate with so I will be able to get her insightful feedback.
Best thing to do is collect references I have found so far online.
Here is my list, that hopefully will give me a head start:
